New contents in the NDL Great East Japan Earthquake Archive (HINAGIKU)
The center for remembering 3.11 (commonly known as recorder311) has been established in sendai mediatheque on May 3, 2011 in the aftermath of the Great East Japan Earthquake. The multimedia studio is a place where residents, specialists, and staff members collaborate to disseminate information as well as record the restoration and recovery process. Through a variety of media, we aim to share information and promote recovery as well as record and preserve photos, films, sounds and texts in an Earthquake Disaster Recovery Archive.
As of October 1, 2014, 713 articles in Japanese and 212 articles in English, including photos and movies portraying the impact of the Great East Japan Earthquake as well as the restoration and recovery process, are searchable in HINAGIKU.
