New content from the NDL Great East Japan Earthquake Archive (HINAGIKU)

Iwate Future Organization
Between 2011 and 2018, Spanish painter José María SICILIA visited on multiple occasions areas afflicted by the Great East Japan Earthquake, including Kamaishi, Ofunato, Rikuzentakata, Minami Soma, and Fukushima. While there he held workshops for children and others, in which he taught the participants how to express their experiences during the disaster as well as their childhood memories in art. Iwate Future Organization is a non-profit organization, originally known as the IAM Group, which has been accompanying and reporting on all of Mr. SICILIA's activities. Thanks to the generosity of Iwate Future Organization, Hinagiku now offers access to these reports as well as photographs of the workshops and artwork created by the participants.
