It has been nearly twenty two years since the Chuetsu Earthquake Struck Niigata Prefecture on October 23rd, 2004.
In commemoration of this tragic natural disaster, eleven photographs from Nagaoka Historical Archives will be exhibited on the top page of HINAGIKU from October 22nd to November 23rd.
In addition to local historical materials, Nagaoka Historical Archives also makes records of the Chuetsu Earthquake and other events available to the public. It collects documentary materials related to disasters and reconstruction in Nagaoka City and works with citizen volunteers to organize and preserve them, passing on the experiences and memories of the disaster to the future.
