The Great East Japan Earthquake and Nuclear Disaster Memorial Museum is a prefectural facility in Futaba, Fukushima Prefecture, which opened in September 2020.
The museum features exhibits of the reality of the unprecedented disaster caused by the combined effects of an earthquake and tsunami which led to the TEPCO Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant accident as well as serves as a forum at which residents who were affected by the disaster can tell their stories.
The museum also houses an archive for the collection, preservation, and exhibition of testimony to Fukushima's recovery, which is also a platform for disseminating information on the experiences and lessons of Fukushima both domestically and internationally.
The museum's reference room holds books on the Great East Japan Earthquake and books on nuclear disasters as well as records of earthquakes and other disasters from various municipalities, all of which can be searched for in HINAGIKU.
