The "National Diet Library Great East Japan Earthquake Archive" (HINAGIKU) allows for integrated search and utilization of the records related to the Great East Japan Earthquake and other earthquake disasters by collaborating with databases on the list of searchable databases and others or collecting digital records.
The HINAGIKU classifies metadata* acquired from affiliated databases and created at the Library into 5 categories: "Document", "Website", "Pictures", "Sound and Videos" and "Other".
(*Metadata refers not to the materials themselves but to information about the materials.)
You can search by specifying "material type".*
You can browse only materials viewable on the web by checking the "Exclude" checkbox on the "Unavailable on the Web" item on the advanced search screen.
*[Note] The whole or part of some materials included in the affiliated databases are sometimes classified as "Other" due to the metadata specifications of the affiliated databases. For this reason, when you widely search, it is recommended to select "Other" as well. For details, please refer to "Other".
The metadata and the text data of some materials of books, magazines, magazine articles, documents and other related to the Great East Japan Earthquake, and other earthquake disasters are included.*
*As noted above, many of the document materials are classified as "Other", so it is recommended to search by including "Other". For details, please refer to "Other".
The metadata of the website which posted the government and the affected local governments' information related to the Great East Japan Earthquake is extracted from the websites collected by the National Diet Library Web Archiving Project (WARP).
On the search screen of the HINAGIKU, you can use by searching with the name of the website operator and the date which is saved on the WARP. If you want to search in more detail such as text search for each page of the websites collected by the WARP, you can browse on the WARP.
Since the occurrence of the Great East Japan Earthquake, the NDL increased the frequency of collecting the websites of the affected local governments and others in the WARP. You can see its change as the table below.

*Please note that deeper level portions of websites sometimes may not be collected due to a technical issue. About the organizations which increased the frequency of collecting, only the shallow level portions of websites are collected except for the regular collection.
The pictures and metadata related to the Great East Japan Earthquake and other earthquake disasters (including pictures taken in affected areas before the occurrence of the Great East Japan Earthquake and the status of restoration) are collected.
The videos and metadata related to the Great East Japan Earthquake and other earthquake disasters (including the testimonies of the disaster victims) are collected.
The materials except "Document ", "Websites", "Pictures" and "Sound and Videos" are classified in this category.
In addition, whole or part of some materials which are classified as "Other" due to the metadata specifications of the affiliated databases.
